R. C. Sproul was a gifted theologian, pastor, teacher, and author who dedicated his life to proclaiming the truth of God’s Word. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1939, Sproul went on to earn degrees from Westminster College, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and the Free University of Amsterdam. He later earned his PhD in theology from the University of Paris-Sorbonne.

As the founder and chairman of Ligonier Ministries, Sproul had a passion for helping others understand the riches of Scripture and the depth of God’s love. Through his teaching, writing, and speaking, he impacted countless people around the world and left a lasting legacy on the church.

Throughout his career, Sproul had a heart for pastoral ministry and regularly preached at Saint Andrew's Chapel in Sanford, Florida. He was also a professor at Reformed Theological Seminary and taught theology courses around the world.

Sproul’s impact on the church was not limited to his teaching and writing. He was also instrumental in founding the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy, which sought to defend the infallibility and inerrancy of Scripture in the face of increasing attacks on the Bible’s authority.
